Putting Business Modeling into Practice 21-03-2012

For years, many organizations had a sound and healthy business model. Nowadays, as a result of drastic changes in the market, organizations find out that their current business model does not work anymore. The financial crisis, globalization, and changing customer behaviour accelerate market dynamics and sharpen business conditions. Organizations fail to renew themselves. The internet, digitization, and (free) access to information and knowledge have changed the rules of doing business. Traditional business models become outdated and create the urge for new, innovative business models.

There is a need to shift management focus from “wait and react” to “anticipate and create”. It is important for organizations that they are proactive and that they start think about innovative business models before they are in a crisis. But how can you systematically invent, design and implement powerful new business models? How can you questions, challenge and transform old, outmoded models? How can you turn visionary ideas into game-changing business models that challenge the establishment?

During this practical workshop, Patrick and Camilla make use of the theory of Alexander Osterwalder. Alexander developed the business model canvas, a systematic and practical tool to think about strategy and business model innovation. By working with the business model canvas, you break with existing models in your organization and you design new business models that can open new markets, reach a different audience or an entire market. Patrick and Camilla explain how to use business model innovation to start develop new business models for the future within your own organization.
