Would you like to find an answer to all the real estate currently available for rent? In Amsterdam we see more than 15% is not rented out. We would like to inspire you with a Real Estate Business Model currently under contruction.

Alex Falk explains his model here.

Inspiration from another Business Model

“I came to Rotterdam in early March, 2011 to start my graduation project from the Kaospilots. During an internship in Melbourne last year I came in contact with a project called Renew Newcastle (.org) which inspired me to start working with empty and unused spaces in the city. In the Netherlands nearly 14% of all property is vacant and unused at this time, while new building projects are raging all around us.
I wanted to work with bringing life to urban areas through the utilization of the vacant spaces in order to create social, economic and cultural surplus.
I started to form my project around the different kinds of development certain areas need and decided to start off with 4 basic concepts: Pop Up Retail, Dining, Co-work/Community centre and Expo. These concepts each work in different ways to catalyze the development of urban areas.”

What about a Multi Sided Market?

“I met with Patrick Van Der Pijl in order to see if I can turn this project into a viable business model. Most projects like this live on subsidies, but I wanted to go a different way and turn this into my business. During my meeting with Patrick I realized that I am working on a multi-sided platform working to satisfy different customer segments by combining their individual needs.”

The next steps…

“The business has just kicked off and I now have access to an empty space on the street where I am running my pilot (Nieuwe Binnenweg 519). If you are interested in knowing more about the project you can get more info from my blog @ leefstand.wordpress.com.”
